Herbal Day Camp

Spring 2024

An immersive day-long herbal retreat focusing on seasonal living, plant-spirit medicine, and deep nourishment.

By the time May comes, the most blustery parts of spring have passed here in Virginia. March and April are when the sap rises so vigorously that the leaves seem to explode from the trees and the winds cleanse and comb the land. Early spring is wild, alchemical, with energies moving rapidly upward and swirling through the tops of things.

But when May comes, it arrives like a calm morning after a stormy night at sea, soft and warm, fragrant and abundant.

By the time May comes, the first crops have already been brought in. Greens and radishes, cabbages, turnips, carrots, peas have been harvested and are being stored or eaten fresh or quickly preserved.

How better than to celebrate getting over the first hump of the year than building fires and partying, praying to the gods of abundance to keep it coming, and venting off all the rising energy that’s been accruing since March…

Saturday, May 4th, we come together at Bridge Between the Worlds in Keswick, VA to fully embrace the Spring season within and without.

Ceremony

We will have an opening and closing ceremony to drop into the space and offer gratitude for the land and all its inhabitants. We will give ourselves the time and space to move at our own pace while remembering the sacredness of ceremony.

Plant Walk

A playful, Spring-y version complete with scavenger hunt ;) We’ll meander around the lake identifying and learning about different medicinal plants. We will also be remembering how to commune with plants, how to listen to them, and how we can connect with them on a personal level.

Nourishing Seasonal Lunch

Nettle soup anyone? We’ll be serving herb-inspired fare appropriate for the winter season while exploring the best ways to nourish your liver and gallbladder through food.

Liver Medicine + Working with Anger

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Wood element corresponds with the season of spring, the liver, and our relationship to anger. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to work with anger on both the physical and psycho-spiritual level and how that relates to the health of your liver and gallbladder.

Plant Journey

We’ll be leading a plant journey — a somatic exploration of energetic plant medicine — where you’ll be able to experience the energetic imprint of a a plant and how it affects your system.

Herbal Day Camp is an invitation to mirror the energy of each season and remember that you are a part of nature. We observe each of the distinct seasons that Virginia offers us, along with the astrological weather, to host a day-long retreat that allows you to feel both fully present to your unique experience AND immersed in the larger energies that are moving through the collective and through the earth.
